Dear SrI VaishNavas,
I wrote a prabandam in Tamil titled dESikanAr tirup-paLLi-ezhucchi. The kaTTaLai kalitturai yAppu ilakkaNam is used in this prabandham. kaTTaLai kalitturai meter in Tamil is a very difficult meter (yAppu ilakkaNam). It has to have four nediladis. Nediladi has five Seers in it. All seers in each adi (line) must be bound only by VeNDaLai. The monai todai (first letter rhyming sound) must be present in each line from first and fifth seer. The edukai todai (second letter rhyming sound) must be in all the four lines (adis) as far as the first seer is considered. Each adi’s fifth seer must be viLang-kAi seer only and viLaLang-kAi seer must not be in the first four seers in each adi. The verse should terminate by "EkAram". If the first letter of the verse is "kuril" (hrasva swaram) (or adi’s first seer’s first asai being nirai), then each line (adi) should have only17 letters ignoring the oTRu ezhutus. If the first letter is "nedil" (dhIrga swaram) (or adi’s first seer’s first asai being nEr), then then each line (adi) should have only16 letters ignoring the oTRu ezhutus. kaTTaLai kalitturais are present in rAmAnusa nUTRandAti, piLLai antAdi and in numerous Tamil prabandams of swAmi dESika. This meter is more complicated than the nErisai vENpA itself. At few places, there may be typo regarding missing vallina otRezhuttu. Please pardon me for such typo if they are present.
